If you’re new to the world of wax melts or are unsure of which tealight to use with your burner, we’re here to help.
Burners come in all different shapes and sizes, so it can be slightly confusing figuring out which tealight you need.
The shorter the distance between the tealight flame and the dish where the wax melts, the smaller the tealight should be. And vice versa.
For example, if you have a short burner and decide to use a large 8 hour tealight, the tealight will heat the wax too quickly and could cause the burner to overheat.
This could potentially result in the glaze of the burner going black and giving off an acrid smoke. The least it will do is cause the burner to overheat and boil the wax or cause it to smoke.
Similarly, when using a larger burner with a small 2 hour tealight, the wax will take longer to melt compared to using a bigger tea light as the distance between the tealight flame and the wax dish is too great. It may even result in the wax not melting at all due to insufficient heat being created under the wax dish.
We therefore recommend pairing smaller burners with 2 or 4 tealights and larger burners with 4 to 6 hour tea lights. This should help to avoid both underheating and overheating.
It’s important to never leave a burning tealight unattended. Always place your wax melt burner away from drafts and also keep the naked flame away from any material or
objects that could catch light. And most importantly, keep your burner out of the reach of children and pets.
